One year to go – countdown to Lincoln Castle Revealed!

With only one year to go until the conservation and restoration work at Lincoln Castle is completed – the COUNTDOWN begins!  Back in 2006 the Lincoln Castle Revealed project was just getting underway – fast forward to 2015 and the Castle will be resplendent, reflecting all the careful work and attention to detail it will have received over the intervening nine years.

Areas of the Castle site that have been closed to the public for decades will be opened up, vital restoration and conservation work will mean that visitors will be able to enjoy views across the city and beyond from the full circular wall walk – an experience which has never been possible before.

There will be much to see: Magna Carta will be newly displayed in a subterranean vault, with films and exhibitions telling the stories of its history.  Life at the Castle and the prisons will be revealed through the archaeological finds, and the refurbished cells where prisoners’ tales will come to life.

The Castle grounds will be open and free to enter, becoming a new open space to enjoy in uphill Lincoln.
