Lord Cormack’s Monthly Message

Magna Carta year is now well underway.

I had the great pleasure of giving the first of the year’s lectures in the Chapter House on 30th January on Lincolnshire’s Year of Pilgrimage. There was a large and enthusiastic audience who seemed ready and eager to participate in this year’s events. We now have a date for the service in the Cathedral and the opening of the Magna Carta Vault – June 8th.

Plans for the Three Choirs Festival are well advanced and that will begin with a lunchtime concert – Anyone for Tennyson? – in the Chapter House on 18th June. That evening there will be a major gala concert featuring Tasmin Little who will, among other things, play Vaughn Williams’ Lark ascending.

The exhibition will open on 26th June and run through until 27th September. If anyone reading this would be interested in sponsoring a special evening private view please get in contact. There will be a number of these private views during the period of the exhibition and they will afford a marvellous opportunity for groups and societies and for companies and organisations to see the largest and most amazing exhibition ever staged in Lincolnshire.
