Lincoln Labyrinth Festival

Lincoln Cathedral is hosting the Lincoln Labyrinth Festival and visitors to the Cathedral are currently enjoying an exhibition which is open daily in the South Transept showing a survey of the historic, artistic and cultural background of labyrinth symbolism and a series of paintings undertaken by contemporary professional artists who were asked to interpret the labyrinth as a symbol of life’s journey. The festival includes a labyrinth symbol drawn on the floor of the nave, encouraging visitors to join in and follow its route. The Cathedral is delighted that a section of the exhibition is given to a display of children’s responses to the labyrinth experience.

In addition, a house of contemplation designed by students from the University of Lincoln’s School of Architecture is also on exhibition in the Morning Chapel.

The Labyrinth Festival closes on 27th August with a finale event of music, song and words. The evening includes a journey for visitors walking the candle-lit labyrinth, the exhibition of paintings and labyrinth designs, and choirs, solo singers and actors performing words and music, including specially commissioned compositions related to the journey of life.

 Please note: The festival continues until 27^th August, and during the festival normal opening times and entry charges for the Cathedral apply. The finale event on 27^th August begins at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the Cathedral bookshop, (adults – £5, children – no charge).
