Lincoln Monopoly launched!

The very first board to have rolled off the presses was opened yesterday in dramatic style inside the Jail at Lincoln Castle!

Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle have pride of place on the newly-designed Monopoly board, taking the two leading spaces Mayfair and Park Lane.

Earlier in the year, when news that a new version would be produced, the Lincoln public was invited to vote as to which city property landmarks should be chosen to swap places with the famous London sites and sights.

The board features many local landmarks, including:

• The city centre level crossing – this appears in one of the many customised playing cards (Chance and Community Chest). The card relating to the notorious crossing says: ‘Not again! You get stuck at the High Street level crossing. Pay M100’ (- that’s a fine of one hundred MONOPOLY dollars).
• Lindum Business Park – this heads up a business set and appears in the red section. Herman Kok, Financial Director of Lindum Group says: “LINDUM Business Park has been a successful starting point for a large number of businesses and social enterprises since 2000 and we are delighted to occupy a prime location on the new board.”
• The Museum of Lincolnshire Life – this appears in a heritage set along with The Collection and Ellis Mill.   These three locations appear in the light blue section of the board, reflecting their local popularity.
• Three of Lincoln’s finest hotels have also made the edition – in the prestigious yellow set.  MONOPOLY players can land, stay and even build a hotel at Tom Hanks’ favourite hotel – The White Hart. The waterfront setting at the Doubletree by Hilton is also in the set, as is the historic splendour of The Old Palace.
