Volunteering at the Castle
Many people have been involved in shaping Lincoln Castle over its long history. In 1068, two years after the Battle of Hastings, William the Conqueror began building Lincoln Castle on a site occupied since Roman times. Since then the castle site has changed and developed. It has housed a court and a prison for 900 years, the Heritage Skills Centre was opened by Viscount Linley in 2013, and the David P J Ross Magna Carta Vault was opened in 2015 by HRH Princess Anne.
Lincoln Castle is a place of discovery, for education and for enjoyment, and if you would like to know more about opportunities to volunteer at the castle please contact Katy-Jayne Lintott, the Volunteer Co-ordinator by email to Katy-jayne.lintott@lincolnshire.gov.uk or call on 01522 541173.
